You Don't Always Want Everything You NEED

Most of us are used to saying that people don't always need everything they want. Yes it's true. We all have our own bottomless pit of wish lists (or want lists) - things we want to achieve, we want to have, and want to own. Sometimes they overlap, sometimes these wishes don't even make sense taken together. In a way, we forget about our priorities and lose our focus on the "prize" - or what we really NEED in life. There comes a point in time however when inevitably we find ourselves pressed to make one choice - one want. Ultimately, upon prioritizing and thinking clearly we default to choose what we really NEED, amongst the hundreds of wants in our list.

This is easy.

But really, have we ever stopped and wondered if maybe what we really NEED is not even one of the things we want? How do we know we NEED something when we don't even desire to have it, or own it; or plainly don't even want it?

As for me, I am not any better at having the answer. I guess at this point what matters is going back to the idea that everything that we have and everything that's happening in our life right now is exactly what we NEED and exactly where we have to be. It is not serendipitous, but rather NECESSARY.

Time to segregate, listen conscientiously, take the plunge but with calcuations, go above the superficial. Time to start scrapping that want list, and building that NEED list. At the end of the day not everything we want may be given to us, yet everything we NEED is always within our reach - just waiting to be recognized.
